Mathrubhumi App delivers news from all around the world, especially intended for people in Kerala. It is an integrated solution delivering local news, new from movies, sports, politics, Kerala, India, World and more in the form of stories, podcasts, photos and videos.

Problem Statement
Mathrubhumi is a century-old Kerala newspaper and is part of the culture. The requirement is a native app for loyal and potential users with all the news updates from Kerala by region and also national and international news under one platform.
Role
As a UX designer, I handled UX/UI design, defined color, typography, and interaction for this app, and produced the flow/interaction, wireframes, prototyping, design mockups, design assets, and guidelines. I worked with a UI Designer, 2 Front-end Developers, 2 Back-end Developers, and QA Team.

Target Users and Market
Our target audience is mainly in the 30-60 years age group. Locals as well as NRIs are the main target user group.

User feedback for our existing hybrid app was the main source to study user mindset. User pain points were identified.

Accomplishment
This final design solution was delivered considering user pain points and potential improvement points. Users seem to be enjoying the new minimal and user-friendly app. The app has an average daily active user count of 22000 and 500 new users. With more than 5 lakh downloads, the design seems to have served well.
